PACKAGING AND COLD-CHAIN MANAGEMENT
Frozen poultry requires suitable packaging, correct lot identification and maintained storage and transport temperatures. Commercial packing and loading plans must reflect the chosen poultry cut, supply programme, buyer requirements and destination rules.
Carton and Inner Packaging
Whole birds and individual poultry cuts may require food-grade inner liners, individually separated pieces, bulk cartons, sealed inner packs or customer-specific cases. The actual packaging style and material are confirmed against the supplying facility’s options.
Individual Quick Freezing and Block Frozen
Individual quick-frozen presentation can support portion control; block-frozen formats may suit further processing. Freezing method and the product’s initial frozen state must be confirmed for each product, not assumed.
Labelling and Traceability
Labels should match the contracted cut and identify suitable information such as product name, net weight, production origin, lot, relevant dates, establishment and handling instructions where applicable.
Cold-Chain Storage
Frozen poultry is commonly stored at -18°C or colder as general guidance, while final setpoints, shelf life and handling procedures follow the approved product and destination standards. Temperature records should support appropriate distribution.
Reefer Container Loading
20ft and 40ft refrigerated containers require a loading plan based on validated case dimensions, gross weights, pallet configuration and vehicle or container restrictions. Load counts cannot be accurately promised without these inputs.
International Shipping Documents
Depending on origin and market, shipments may require commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, origin documents, veterinary health certificates, inspection records or Halal documentation. The precise applicable document set is reviewed per shipment.
